How to Export Your Twitter/X Data to CSV#

If you need to export data from Twitter/X — your tweets, followers, bookmarks, or likes — the built-in archive feature from X is slow (takes days) and gives you a messy JSON dump that's hard to work with. Third-party web apps that promise CSV exports usually require your API keys or OAuth access, which is a security risk.

Each export produces a CSV file with structured columns — tweet ID, text, author, timestamps, engagement metrics, etc. For user exports, you get screen name, display name, bio, follower count, verified status, and more.

How it works#

1. Install the extension#

Get it from the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, or Edge Add-ons.

2. Navigate to the data you want#

Go to any profile page, your bookmarks, a search result, or a list on x.com. The extension detects where you are and shows the available export options.

3. Create an export task#

Click the extension icon while on any Twitter page. A popup shows the available export options for the current page — for example, on a profile page you'll see Download Following, Download Followers, Download Tweets, etc. Click Export on the one you want.

The extension opens a confirmation screen showing the task details: total records, estimated time, rate limit, and storage needed. Review these and click Start Export to begin. The extension runs in the background — you can keep browsing normally.

You can also create tasks manually from the Download Manager by entering any Twitter URL directly.

4. Handle rate limits automatically#

Twitter throttles how fast you can pull data. The extension detects rate limits and auto-pauses, then resumes when the limit resets. For large exports (10,000+ records), it may pause several times. You don't need to do anything — just let it run.

5. Download your file#

When the export finishes, click the download button in the task manager to get your CSV file. Pro users can also download media files (photos and videos) as a ZIP archive.

Why not use Twitter's official archive?#

Twitter's built-in data export (Settings → Your Account → Download an archive) has several limitations:

Takes 24-48 hours to prepare
Only your own data — you can't export another account's public tweets or followers
