Minimal by Design

One thing done well — bilingual page translation with zero overhead

Bilingual Reading

Translations appear below the original text, not replacing it. Read both languages simultaneously for better comprehension.

Multiple Providers

Choose from Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, or any OpenAI-compatible API. Switch providers anytime from the options page.

Smart DOM Walker

Only translates visible content. Handles single-page apps, lazy-loaded content, dynamic text changes, and shadow DOM.

Site-Specific Rules

Built-in rules for the top 50 most-visited websites. Skip navigation, translate only article content, or customize per site.

Keyboard Shortcut

Press Alt+A to toggle translation on any page. No floating buttons, no popups — just one shortcut.

Zero Overhead

No code is injected into any page until you request translation. Minimal memory footprint and no performance impact while idle.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is this different from Google Translate?

Google Translate replaces the original text. Imp Translate keeps the original and shows the translation below it, so you can read both languages simultaneously. This is better for language learning and for verifying translation accuracy.

Which translation providers are supported?

Google Translate, Microsoft Translator, and any OpenAI-compatible API (OpenAI, DeepSeek, local models via Ollama, etc.). You can configure your preferred provider in the extension's options page.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. On Android, install via Kiwi Browser (Chrome Web Store) or Firefox. On iOS, use Safari with the Imp Translate Safari extension. See our mobile setup guide for step-by-step instructions.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free and open source. The extension itself has no cost. Some translation providers (like OpenAI) may charge for API usage, but Google and Microsoft providers work without any API key setup.
